The Annual Santa Pub Charity Tour was held on December 3, 2011. With over 150 people in attendance, who could have missed this group of merry-makers as they toured the local establishments in downtown Hartford? This year’s event raised approximately $4,200 for the Connecticut Chapter of the MS Society. Thank you all for joining us and helping raise funds for this very important cause. A special thanks to Kevin “Kev Dog” O’Connell for once again setting this up and leading the way through the streets and thanks to the Pig’s Eye Pub, the Russian Lady, City Steam, Vaughn’s, and McKinnon’s for hosting the group of Santas and Santa’s helpers. Hope to see you all at next year’s event.

On what turned out to be another cold and windy day for this tournament to be held on, The Hartford Wanderers returned to NYC to defend their 2010 Tournament Championship. After outscoring their first four opponents 132-46, the Wanderers found themselves in the Championship Match against NERFU foe, Middlesex RFC. With Middlesex coming off a much easier semi-final match versus Newport RFC, the Wanderers found themselves coming up 3 points short at the final whistle. Overall, a great tournament performance by the Wanderers with some exemplary play by veterans and rookies alike.

Pool Play: HWRFC 29, Rochester Aardvarks 14; HWRFC 33, Turks and Caicos Islands RFC 12.

Play-offs: HWRFC 46, Newport 0.

Semi-Finals: HWRFC 24, Washington Renegades 20.

Final: HWRFC 12, Middlesex 15.

2010 St. Patrick's Day Parade PDF  | Print |  E-mail

On Saturday, March 13 a merry bunch of Wanderers (with family, friends, and Hartford Roses) braved the elements to march in the 2010 St. Patrick’s Day parade with our sponsor, Olde Burnside Brewery. Not even the cold, rain, or the lack of adult beverages at the staging area, kept those that attended from doing so with an enthusiasm that could not be curbed. One again, the pre-parade breakfast at the Red Rock was well worth getting up early for. The post-march festivities sponsored by Old Burnside (i.e., free food and beverage) were only topped off by Tivan and Eric rescuing the tray of ribs the caterer had dropped on the ground.  The 5-second rule was not in effect. A big thanks to all of you who came out and marched.
